Movie Review : A walk to remember

Yesterday, i saw this wonderful romantic movie named "a walk to remember"....
Before i begin to tell my opinion about the movie ,i must admit that these days i am seeing lot of romantic movies .. I like very few of them .. and along with serendipity ,this one is one of them now.. :)

Every couple have their own definition of love.. some call it a divine power, magic, gift of god, purest thing specially created for man etc... etc.. Till date, many Hollywood movies also have added their own definitions.. this film also adds one.. But i liked the definition stated in this movie very much.. it is simple yet meaning full .. not perfect though ..

The movie gives the message that Love is a same as of wind.. you can't see it ,but you can feel it.. .
Wow, what a new perspective this movies adds... Love is to be felt by lovers... which negates the material aspects Like, proximity of lovers, language in which they communicate.. because, emotions can be felt by the person irrespective of these things .. so, LOVE is the purest of kind and is the best emotion.

The story is based on a spoiled hero and a heroin who is down due to cancer.. how hero falls in love with the heroin .. How, he tries to fulfill all her wishes on wish list.. ,how he fulfills her 1st ranked wish of getting married in the same church as her parents got married .. the story is cute and it goes on in quite interesting way .... Of curse, guys might feel that movie is dumb as in movie does not show any contribution from the girl's part in their relationship .. but, strong reason behind this is her cancer...
But, i do felt that not telling him before, that she has cancer is blunt.. When she felt his closeness, she should have told him .. .. hmmm..
Anyway, I liked the movie for it's wholeness and strong story-line ..

The hero changes a lot because of heroin ... there is no touching scene between  hero and heroin .. but ya, there are few romantic scenes .. like, dancing together in spite of the fact that they both don't know how to dance , spending whole night (innocently ;) ) under the starry sky on a blanket gazing at stars [ I liked this one :P ]

So, all in all, good movie with good direction. Must see for couples... ;)

Movie review : Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai

A very romantic movie by Satish Rajwade.... and of course, i was not going to miss it. so, i quickly planned for the same as i found some resemblance of my life into it.
So,movie starts with the a nice shots of my "pune" as seen at the wee hours of day.Entry of heroin and hero is quickly followed by that. Heroin is Mukta barve ,who's name is not known to viewer till end and thus depicts "amachi mumbai" ,also have  same fashion madness in her costume (which suits her very well ). Now hero is Swapnil Joshi from "majhe pune" , who have a typical "puneri" mentality  ( i am gonna explain it later what is the meaning of puneri mentality :P ) and is not up to date in fashion. He helps her find a guy's address in a special puneri marathi ( Pure ,not like Mumbai's marathi  which is more like a hindi+marathi :) ) ,but, now heroin gets to know marathi culture in pune and also  world famous  Puneri Patya ..unfortunately she could not meet the guy and so again coincidentally she meets him again.
Now He is there to help her as he feels that "not helping a girl is against principles in pune" .. :P why he goes behind her is explained later at the end.  now, he becomes the knight in a shining armour  for heroin. He takes her to coffee shop , then to Sarasbaug , tulashibaug, visit to Sinhagad follows. Through out their visites to  places , they exchange their thoughts, principles and they begin to adapt each others language specific habits :) and most importantly their Past..They both share a  secrets with each other which they have not even shared with their family and friends.. In so small time, they bond so well that they just forgets about the "hurting spots" in their minds ( Hers being ex-boyfriend : Arnav  and his being ex-girlfriend : Sunkchi-a japanies girl) , This is sweet.. :)
Then, they also visits the  Dagadusheth ganapati followed by famous hang out place on FC road : Wadeshwar .. which becomes the last stop of theirs as she need to go back to mumbai .. Actually, she had come  to pune to meet that guy (who they name after his residence's name : Hridaymardaym )  and she is to tell him that she can not marry him. But, at the end she forgets everything abt him  and tells hero to convey her reasons to that guy.
Finally ,time comes when she needs to go back . hmmm.. They bid good-byes and don't even exchange numbers. he leaves and she awaits  train to mumbai. Then, few events happen which unfolds the mystery of the hridaymardaym guy.. that guy turns out to be our hero :)...

The thing i liked about this movie is it's simplicity and illustrative way of showing a difference between mumbai and pune and slowing diverting  that  to the difference between a boy and a girl and institution called marriage. :) .. Movie also beautifully unfolds the tender relationships that develops between hero and heroin ... I myself , think knowing each other's past is the best thing that can build relationship , now it is not necessary that we should stick to one's past.Past is just a way to peep in one's heart and to judge whether there is any place for us :)

Music is also good. It just creates the mood for the romantic situations  that movie demands.

What to say about  acting,Mukta did a fabulous job as a girl representing Mumbai, she keeps a dashing, bold characteristics through out movie but also shows a acute feminine behaviours like blushing when he proposes her.  The costume also suits her very well. Swapnil shows a unique "punery" guy and takes  claps on statements about pune. Overall, movie seems like pro-pune.. :) .Only thing i felt was wrong that, his dialogs contain many mumbai's local words.dialog shows he follows modified-marathi from mumbai's marathi itself..

Overall, a very good movie . Every couple ,especially, pune-mumbai couples must watch this movie. It will help you to better understand your counter-part.. :)

My first attempt at poetry ..

Hi all, here i am penning down my first ever creation ,my first poem ( which i wrote few months ago ).

what i have gotten into
I am in a whirlwind
whirlwind is in me or it is out?
I doubt.....

I am just thinking how i am here
did i fall by myself or one was there?
I see my beloved far from me
I see them but do they see me?

I am in parish, do anybody know?
if yes ,do they care, i hardly know
whole world is circling
I might fall and no one there to hold

I just want my beloved to know
how much i cared, loved each of them
May be not more than myself, but i tried.
I have no hopes left and i m in a whirlwind
rising higher ,higher and higher

It is just a simple creation of mine. When i heard  some deadly news about betrayal of someone back then, words just popped into my mind and i tried this...

Book review : Act like a lady, think like a man

The title says it all ,the book is all about understanding Man's world.. :) ,a good guide for woman ( i may say, Steve's book is a knight in shining armor for those who are looking for help in relationships ) ,But. this book is good for those too who are in mid-of-relationship and can not figure out what is going wrong with them. Though, i do not fully agree with all of Steve's notes and tips ( somewhere i totally find it offending for we all females..) but, all in all a good read to understand/clear few misconceptions about your partner's world.

The big tip i got from this book is that "stop asking other woman for help on relationship issues", especially those woman who are in relationship. Just talk to your partner. Coz, after all, Man's world is different than woman's. Woman's world is soft, fragile. But, Man's world is harsh, he have to prove himself for every minute in some way or other. For woman, Socially ,it is not mandatory to prove herself :) .. If a woman is not doing anything to earn her bread and butter then no-body will care about. but, if a man is not doing anything then, everyone taunts him for his inability. This is fact.

According to steve, Man's love is different than woman's love. Her love is deep like oceans and high like mountains but his love is more rough yet caring. Man is always taught to profess, protect and provide everything to his lady and a woman makes him important by allowing him to give her those Golden Ps (stated above). Steve states all about keeping relationships with man, how not to loose your man, how to make him want you, what all general mistakes woman do in relationship, how men evaluate any woman when they first see her. Everything.

Another thought i liked is that, Steve suggests to woman that not to give blueprint of her likes ,favourites to her partner.coz, certainly, he will give her what she likes, but surely will not give his inputs, innovatives thoughts .Let him research, dig out your favourite and then see wonder in your relationship.

Few more tips  ( from him ,not from me :P ) :

1) Dont open a conversation with words "we need to talk" ... :) Steve says, it opens up guards of men. They go into defending position rather than conversing mode which is what woman wants at that moment :)
2) Form a two handed circle...Dont let ANYBODY come in between two of you.. nice thought.. not ur friends too nor his friends too
3) Men hate gossips.. :) :) :) :)

These are just excerpts from book. You must read book if you are further interested.. :)

Book review: Gone with the wind : A master piece of Margaret Mitchell

After so many days of no new readings, i picked this novel from local library. I read the book in marathi , a translated version of the book.

The moment i started reading it, just could not suppress my desire of reading it in one shot. but, i had to put it down some time as i had daily chores to do.but, i used to read it's e-book version in my free time on job..For those 4/5 days,i had no time pass left, no orkutting, no rss feeds nothing... such was the attraction of that book.

It is a great love story of a girl named Scarlett O-hara and Rhett butler in the background of civil war of America which ends in a dramatic way. Yes, like other love stories we do not get goody goody ending and i think it is rare situation to have such thought in 1940's literature.
Book contains a great citing where few of my fav are listed at the end of the blog.
About book, the story unfolds in the era where American civil war was raging i.e in 1870's.I feel, without this background , the love story would not have been so effective as it seems right now to me.The main feminine figure of the book is Scarlett O-hara who is a daughter of Geranld O-hara who owns a plantation named Tara in Georgia. Scarlett is not portrayed as a good girl, but rather a bad girl only. She is rich, she is pretty with a obsession about her smallest waist in a province, she is kinda bad girl, envy girls ,wants to keep every man at her footstep. At the same time, she is selfish and foolish girls who misunderstands a no-love for her teenage boyfriend Ashley as love and stays deprived of love through out her life .She understands this at the end of book when Ashley ( her assumed love ) clears that he loved his wife. The dialog goes like this :

Ashley: [about Melanie, who is dying] I can't live without her. I can't. Everything I ever had is going with her... She's the only dream I ever had that didn't die in the face of reality. Scarlett: Ashley, you should have told me years ago that you loved her and not me, and not left me dangling with your talk of honor. But you had to wait till now, now when Melly's dying. To show me that I could never be any more to you than, than this Watling woman( Prostitute ) is to Rhett ... And I've loved something that doesn't really exist. Somehow, I don't care. Somehow, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter one bit.

On the other part, Scarlett is also a good example of aggressive woman of that era. She literally come out of war situation with her remaining family, so, obviously becomes dominant and aggressive. It was new idea for woman of that era to be aggressive. In fact, she did turn business-woman and literally made money for herself, and also for TARA (her beloved home and a dream of her father Gerald). Her love for her home, land carries her to the extend when she offers her everything to long time so-called friend Rhett butler. she shows immense loyalty towards her family and marries a man for few bucks. But at the deepest corner of heart, she yearns for money, for popularity ,to be a center of attraction always. At the end , she marries Rhett butler, who truly loves her and always helps her in her bad times. His epic saying at the time he proposed her when she was in mourning for her 2 nd husband , tells us all :

"Forgive me for startling you with the impetuosity of my sentiments, my dear Scarlett - I mean, my dear Mrs. Kennedy. But it cannot have escaped your notice that for some time past, the friendship I have felt for you has ripened into a deeper feeling. A feeling more beautiful, more pure, more sacred - Dare I name it? Can it be - love?... This is an honorable proposal of marriage, made at what I consider a most opportune moment. I can't go all my life waiting to catch you between husbands."

She marries him mostly for his money.. Though, he truly loves her, but thinks to wait for her till she gets over with ashley.. But, could not wait for her longer.. at the end when, she realizes that she do not love Ashley instead she loves Rhett, he pulles strings back. Now, he had moved over her and walks on her..
From my perspective, Rhett butler's character seemed like a true gentleman. He patiently waits for her but never discloses his true feelings for her.

The books ends with couple separating... and Rhett saying out those famous words to her upon her asking "where would she go, if he is leaving her" : "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn( i dont care where you go scarlett )!"........

It's a must read book with a rich language, good plot, good roles.. I truly njoyed reading it..Now, gonna watch this epic movie too.. :)

Lalbaug-Parel : Epic tale of "textile mill" era of "Amachi Mumbai"

After Ringa Ringa, i did not watch any marathi movie.so, decided to watch a latest flick Lalbaug-Parel.Though, i could not catch Prabhat theater's show of that movie as timing was not convenient for me. I myself think that one should watch a Marathi movie in Prabhat only... It feels different.. :)

So, finally, i decided to go to Nilayam theater.Lalbaug and parel being the old part of mumbai there resides our "Marathi manus". Now, that time, Textile Mills were the greatest means of earning bread and butter for people of mumabi. But, sudden downfall of these mills kept marathi manus dumbstruck and till date he could not rise from that fall.
The cast of the film is just fabulous. Each one of them have done their job perfectly and roles just gets imprinted on viewer's mind permanently.I especially liked Sidhdharth jadhav as speed breaker : a stammering guy who becomes side-hand of Pakya ( a local gunda outcome of mill's downfall ).

The movie starts with a description of change in rates in Lalbaug-parel area which increased 100 times in 50 years. Proceeds with the narration of Baba ( ankush chawdhary). The whole plot is seen through one family's eye but other families and common problem of mill shutdown is woven in fabulous way. The common problems like men turn towards crime, woman resort to prostitution and some families also commit mass suicide are very well conveyed. The political plot behind the end of mill era is touched very little but, still sufficient as the film seems to be revolving around a family drama and not towards criticalities of politics behind end of era. so, we can say , that film is on downfall of mill stuck family story..

All in all, very good movie to watch .... :)

The EAR-job

It's a story of one and a half week ago ... It happened that while taking shower ,some quantity of water went into my ear to block it fully... :( .. hmm.. I dared to bear that one day of partial deafness....
Then, 2 days passed and i was kinda getting used to using only 1 ear and that happened. My another ear also went numb.. and so, i became full deaf.

I could not hear a word properly from a person standing beside me.The big problem showed up when I started hearing every sound inside my body. Like, when i m chewing, i could hear only food getting chewed and not a person speaking something to me... :( .. The problems were getting severe when my family member got to know about it ... At first, i became a Ginipig to try on all "home remedies" but none worked.
Then, my mom started getting anxious which was a big sign of me getting into trouble..She started drawing conclusions and finding reasons behind my ear problem and i knew it would happen. She finally, blamed it to all my constant use of mobile phone. huh...
then, i needed to take firm action, so, i declared that i would go to doctor. she was not the only reason behind my such declaration, but also i started fearing this deafness for whole life.. :D . i know this sounds funny. But, believe me guys, once you are into such situation , you would not like to take chance and show unneeded courage. :P

so, i went to my family Doc to get my ears diagnosed which revealed that they are just blocked cause of dirt which have become gum-like.. ewk.. was my first reaction.. That day, i got to know guys, that if you clear your ears with low quality buds (even daily) then you are into serious danger of getting infected.. Huh.. and i used to do that.. My doc gave me a magic drops which resolved my problem after 3 days of constant use.. :P ...
now, i can hear properly.. The day when my ear got cleared was best day for me.. :) which yes... today.. :D ...

Natarang - a Must watch Marathi movie

3rd Jan 2010 Sunday,i was at home on a long vacation but that day was the end of it and so i was in a mood to fully utilise my last day of vacation. Suddenly my mom asked me for a Marathi movie : Natarang to nearby theatre. That day itself i read a review of the movie and it was very positive. I usually don't trust reviews very much but i only go to movies which have got at least Standard ratings.. but, this movie have got excellent ratings so, i decided not to miss this one.

Natarang is based on a novel by Anand Yadav [ who resides opposite me.. :) ] 'Natarang' revolves around GUNA, a farm worker from the backword community, who is an amature wrestler with ultimate dreams of playing the King in the traditional Marathi folk art Tamasha.Somehow he nurtures his dream and gets an opportunity to form his own Tamasha "phad" with the help of Pandoba,a native villager and another great fan of Tamasha. they start off well with all enthu and lots of practise ,but soon gets few hurdles which includes finding lead Tamasha dancer without which Tamasha would not go on.He gets one ,our heroin "Nayana" ,but again Guna gets stuck with a unsolvable problem. Our heroin demands a "Nachya" for Tamasha group, where concept of Nachya is that of a male who acts, lives like a female and used in Tamasha as a humour maker..
Guna is so passionate about his qualities as "Kalavant" that he gets ready to do that role, a brave decision for the sake of Tamasha, his passion... For this he needs to do lots of sacrifices. There starts his tough life as nachya ... First of all ,he needs to give up his manly habits, shed weight, give up manly postures and needs to learn feminine gestures.

Transformation in him are excellent. He carries his new role with the same passion and gets along very well with it. Their Tamasha group soon becomes popular...But, here on his family fronts, Every one keeps a distance with him as by selecting a life of Nachya ,he have disguised a family honor. But, with out thinking about family,he continues.. His nachya goes on... But, somehow somewhere he creates an enemy for himself which causes a g8 trouble at the peak of his carrier.his group gets shattered cause of this tornado.. and after that his losses becomes greatest.. his baba dies, his wife leaves him, his self-respect goes, he even couldn't rub off his image of nachya ..... but, still he keeps on worshipping the "kalavant" inside him...
Finally, he starts his new life as a nachya itself ,but tries to do some diff roles too which gives him good identity besides nachya. :) At his end days, he gets what he wants , a recognition to Tamasha folks.. :)

All in all, good movie, very good language, very good acting by Atul kulkarni.. :) best .. the transition from manly Guna into feminine Guna is just simply awesome. :) .. simply awesome. He is best..I liked the movie very much..After Jogava this one is the best marathi movie i saw.. :)
